　　该剧讲述了一位“法律上已宣布死亡”的前CIA特工，受雇于一位神秘的亿万富翁，打自主正义牌，用私人力量来打击犯罪保护人民。 

　　卡维泽所饰演的角色名叫Reese，他在秘密行动中所受的特殊培训得到了爱默生的角色Finch的注意。Finch是一名软件天才，他发明了一种可以使用模式识别即将行使暴力犯罪族群的程式。用这种国家最先进的监视技术，这两人游离于法律之外，用Reese娴熟的特工能力以及Finch无限的财富，揭开那神秘的犯罪嫌疑人，并在犯罪发生之前制止它。 

　　Reese的行动受到了NYPD-纽约警局的关注，包括凶杀科侦探Carter，以及Fusco，一名Reese曾经利用过的警丵察。而Reese和Finch发现，在这个私人隐私被肆意暴露，每个人都被政府“老大哥”监视的时代，只要正确地利用信息、在正确的时间、发现正确的人，便可以制止犯罪，改变一切。

James Caviezel 饰 John Reese
